How to make your computer run faster

There are many ways you can make your computer run faster. Here are some of the basic tips that you can use.

1. Remove Unwanted Programs - If you've installed many programs that you haven't used in a long time, you should uninstall them. Programs not being used just use up Hard Disk Space and may run automatically on startup, making your computer run slower. Look through your computer and find the programs you do not need.

2. Delete Malicious Programs - You may have downloaded a virus by accident when downloading a file. These viruses not only slow down your computer but often can have many other effects. That is why it is important that you use up-to-date Anti-Virus Software. There are Free and Paid Anti-Virus Software, it depends on if you want to spend money on keeping your computer safe. One of the best Free alternatives is AVG Free.

3. Delete Junk - This means deleting temporary files as well as other files that aren't programs. Whenever you go onto a website, the files (Such as the images) are temporarily downloaded to your PC and stay there to make sure that the website loads quicker on the next visit to it. If you go to a lot of websites, your temporary files will get larger and larger and slow your computer down. You can delete these by the Windows Programs Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragment.

4. Clean the Registry - The Registry can also slow your computer. You probably won't be able to clean this out manually, so you will need to download a Registry Software, such as CCleaner.

5. Windows can use a lot of memory itself because of the effects (Especially Windows Vista). You can compromise the effects used in order to make your PC run faster. You can do so from the Performance section on the Control Panel.

6. Improve Hardware - Hardware is the main reason behind how fast a computer is. If your computer is really slow when you have no viruses or when you aren't running many programs, its probably just a very cheap computer. Consider buying a new computer or at least upgrade the RAM, the CPU or the Hard Disk to make it run faster. It depends on whether you have enough money to spend.
