Have you thought of changing your name? There are a variety of reasons to do so, and one method to do so is called a deed poll. Another term used for this is called a deed of change of name. One reason a person might want to change their name with a deed poll is because it's hard to pronounce. When you're trying to teach someone your last name, in particular, many times they will stumble and mispronounce it, and this can be very embarrassing for everyone involved! Another reason someone might want to consider a deed poll to change their name is because it is hard to spell. For one thing, if you have children and your last name has a difficult spelling, this can be a hassle for them in school and otherwise. It can even be difficult for them to spell their own name! You may for whatever reason just not like your last name. This is another issue that causes people to want to do a deed of change of name (deed poll). Some last names just don't sound nice or are too easy a target for harassment. Although changing your name can be a major life decision, it is one that you can at least consider, if you feel there is a good enough reason to change your name. Bear in mind that it will make it harder for people from your past to locate you in the future if you change your name using a deed poll. In some instances, that may be exactly what you want (for people not to be able to locate you). Perhaps you have a personal protection order against someone who used to stalk or harass you. In this case, changing your name can help you regain privacy and anonymity.
