Choosing a hosting provider for your site can be tough. Here are five things to look for in a hosting provider: 1. What type of webhost do you have to have? Do you need Linux based hosting or Windows based web hosting? Are you looking for a dedicated server or just a place to store a single website? There are advantages to having a dedicated server, and a good hosting provider will be willing to take you through the steps either by phone, email, or live chat, so that you can be confident you get the ideal plan for your needs and budget. 2. Cost Search around and compare the prices that other web hosts are oferring. Account for things like how much bandwidth and disk space are offered by each hosting provider per dollar amount. The lowest prices may or may not include all the nice things though, so be certain to compare correctly. 3. Data Storage How much space for files do you really have to have. What kind of website are you intending to have hosted? Is it a plain text-based website, informational, with only a couple picturesphotos and graphics? In this situation, space for files is not really a big deal. Thus, you can choose to pay less attention to how much space for files offered, and think more on the other extras a particular hosting provider may provide you, such as customer support or a solid reputation in the industry. On the other hand, if your site is based on media or image on it, space for files becomes a major issue! In this instance, you'll want to look for the best space for files bang for your buck, so to speak. 4. Data transfer (also known as data transfer) What is Data transfer and why is it an important issue? Data transfer basically refers to the amount of visitors allowed each month, meaning how much digital information can travel from the server (where your website resides) to the user's computer who views your site. It is actually that easy. Every time someone views your site, their computer has to download all the pictures, graphics, text, and other multimedia your site may contain, so that their browser (such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome) can display the site for the person viewing it. What does this mean to you? You have a similar concern here as you do with space for files: if your site has lots of pictures, video, music or other multimedia content, you will have to have a lot of Data transfer to be provided each month by your hosting provider. But again, if your site mostly contains text and maybe one or 2images, this factor is far less important! Another consideration here is how many people you think will visit your site. If your site is well promoted and marketed, you will have to have more Data transfer. If it's just a site for a couple friends and family members, Data transfer is less critical. 5. The People Factor This includes a dependable reputation and good customer help. While this should go without saying, it is important to remember that the cheapest deal does not equate to the best value - getting the cheapest price monthly (or yearly) for your web host does not certainly guarantee the best customer help after the sale! Word to the wise: research a hosting provider before you buy anything more than a month of hosting. If you want to try a hosting provider out because they have low pricing, do so cautiously by starting with one month of hosting. If they don't follow up after the sale with dependable technical support and dependable customer help, take your site somewhere else! Simple as that!
